I moved to Vermont so I could be in the woods. As a result I have grown to admired the artistic nature of wood grain. It tells the story of that tree and the land where it grew. A maple tab, barb wire from an old farm, or a good old nail all leave their own chapter in the story. This passion was born out of necessity. I could never find pieces that spoke to me. Inspired by other artisans I began to tinker. Starting small with custom coasters, it became a bit of an obsession. Late nights in the garage making lots of sawdust was just fun. It's easy to get lost in creativity and creating.
We're lucky to live where we do. As much as possible, the wood is sustainably harvested. A good lot so far has been blowdown on my own property. Which was originally a dairy farm back in the day. Thus the barbwire reference.
Smaller items are where I spend my time. Coasters, Lazy Susans, End and Coffee Tables. Happy to explore other ideas as well. I hope you enjoy some of the products I make. Please let me know if you have any questions or want something custom made.
Best,
Scott Thompson
